The Life in the UK index is a three-year demonstrator project designed to measure the collective wellbeing of the people of the UK, looking at social, economic, environmental, and democratic aspects of life.

This publication – produced with Ipsos - outlines scores for collective, social, economic, environmental and democratic wellbeing in Wales. The research is based on a representative survey of 6941 people from across the UK, including 531 from Wales.  It presents key findings in relation to how different demographics are doing across Wales.

This a Welsh language version of this research. We have also produced an English language version of the report for Wales, which can be found here.

Key findings include:

  • People in Wales living in the most deprived areas have lower wellbeing across each theme. The research also points out that a larger proportion of people in Wales are dissatisfied with job opportunities available locally.
  • In a similar pattern to the rest of the UK, the research reveals a lack of trust in political systems and institutions in Wales.

Other reports in this series include:

We are committed to releasing further reports on the jurisdictions of the UK and different demographic groups.
